Organization
The name of the organization is LEIEBOERFORENINGEN, with office address Borggata 2B, 0650 Oslo, registered in the Brønnøysund Register Centre (www.brreg.no) with org.nr.: 9700 15 868 MVA, phone 24 14 91 00, and email: lbf@lbf.no. The Tenants' Association (LbF) was founded in 1933.
General Information about Membership
A membership in LbF grants the rights that follow from our current membership offers, statutes, and decisions made by the association's bodies with such authority. You can find LbF's statutes here.
LbF is open to everyone, except for commercial landlords. If the membership includes the right to legal advice, LbF cannot provide specific assistance in cases where the opposing party is another tenant. In such cases, we can only provide general legal guidance.
A new membership is valid from the date the fee is registered as paid to LbF and for one year (12 months). Membership in LkL (municipal residents in Oslo) can also be taken out for six months. The membership is automatically renewed upon expiration through direct debit from the account used at registration. If you pay the fee after it has expired, the main due date will be used as the basis for when the membership renewal is made. The member must actively cancel the membership when they no longer wish to be a member, see below.
About Legal Advice
We respond to inquiries in the order they are received. During periods with many requests, it may take some time before we can assist you. An initial assessment of all incoming inquiries is also made, and more serious matters such as termination/eviction are prioritized. If you use the electronic case handling module, you will be informed of the expected number of days before your inquiry is answered. During periods with many inquiries, our lawyers may also take on cases that are normally handled by the legal consultants. It is up to LbF and the individual lawyer to determine whether an inquiry should be defined as legal assistance or assistance from a consultant. You will never be charged for legal services without a prior agreement.
Assistance from our legal consultants is of the "help to self-help" type and usually takes the form of oral advice. The legal consultants provide guidance on how the Tenancy Act should be understood and how you can proceed with a case/dispute. The legal consultants cannot represent you to a third party, for example, by calling or writing to your landlord.
If you want LbF to represent you to another party, only our lawyers can do this. This is normally a paid service and takes place after you have had an initial review of the case. The lawyer will review the case with you and inform you of your options. All assignments must be confirmed through a written agreement. You can find a price list for our legal services here.
Please note that the Tenancy Act and related regulations do not always give you the rights you think or believe you are entitled to. Our advice is based on the current law. If you find the outcome unreasonable or unfair, this is not something LbF's lawyers and legal consultants can change.
Remember that as a member, you support our legal policy fight to strengthen all tenants' rights.

Payment of Membership
Registration and payment by card are done via the e-commerce solution Thrivecart and Stripe with the card types specified at registration. If you cannot or do not wish to use card payment, LbF can send you a membership offer by mail giro. There is a fee of NOK 35 for sending a mail giro. With such manual solutions, the membership is valid from the date the membership is paid and registered in LbF. The association can provide assistance before the payment is registered with us if documentation is provided that the fee has been paid to the bank.
Termination of Membership
A membership can be terminated at any time and will then last until the specified expiration date. The member must cancel their membership themselves – by phone, letter, email, or by logging out via My Page. Members who have not renewed their membership/paid the membership fee by the due date are not entitled to use the association's various membership offers and cannot log in to the website.
If LbF has not received a cancellation, the association will send reminders about the missing fee for up to six months after the fee should have been paid. After six months, the membership and other personal information we have about the member will be deleted. Information related to cases handled by our legal consultants/lawyers is retained for one to five years, depending on the type of case.
Refund of Membership Fee
Refund of the membership fee is made according to the following rules:
New Membership: If a refund is requested upon the establishment of a new membership, the fee is refunded in full if the request is made no later than one week after the membership was established.
From week two to four after registration, the membership is refunded with a deduction of NOK 100, which corresponds to the price of the Subscription.
From week five, the fee is not refunded. If you have received legal advice during the period you have been a member, these refund rules do not apply, cf. point 3 below.
Renewal of Membership: If a refund of the membership fee is requested after the renewal of membership, the fee is refunded if the request is made within four weeks after payment. A fee for work and transaction costs of NOK 50 is deducted.
If a refund is requested more than four weeks and less than eight weeks after payment, half of the paid amount is refunded with a deduction of a fee of NOK 50.
If the payment is older than eight weeks, the fee is not refunded.
Exception for Received Legal Advice: If you have received advice from the association's legal consultants and/or lawyers/trainee lawyers during the period defined under points 1 or 2, the membership fee is not refunded unless LbF has taken an unreasonably long time or there are other circumstances related to the advice that justify this.
